Ministerial Meeting WFC

Buenos AIres, October 19th in Palacio San Martin, the Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Julian Dominguez, and the Secretary for Environment and Sustainable Development, Homero Bibiloni, chaired a meeting with Ministers for Environment and Agriculture who participate at XIII WFC.

Main spoken points 

  1. The high importance of including the forest issue within the climate change debate (REDD + ).
  2. This inclusion may become, for developing countries, a competitive advantage for equaling different capacities.
  3. Land administration   results a key for the delimitation of productive and environmental areas, as well as toe ease local development and optimizing tourism options against rural migration to urban areas.
  4. State role results of high importance for forest protection and conservation, as well as promoting sustainable forestry activities.
  5. The defense and appropriate use of forests are highly important tools for combating poverty implies a defense for a better use of natural resources.
  6. Forests should also be considered as a service for life quality.
  7. To underline the importance of community participation with a sense of inclusion and forestry valorization.
  8. Continuing improving and strengthening the Forest Forum in the context of UN.
  9. The importance that FAO and collaborating groups to strengthen their actions.
  10. The importance of   the positive synergies among Conventions, because in all of them, forest have a relevant role.
  11. To explore substantive energy inputs that forests may offer, balancing sustainability without affecting food security.
